Milton Keynes East

Monkston Park

Location
Between Brickhill Street (V10) and Standing Way (H8).
Description

Monkston Park will accommodate new homes and a local retail centre with community space.  There are 11 individual plots currently allocated for small development opportunities.

There is a development site close to the H8 which is currently earmarked for a hotel development, though this may be re-designed in line with community needs in the future.

St Bernadette's Primary School, opened in Autumn 2005.  It was built by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Northampton in partnership with Milton Keynes Council.  The school primary serves the parishes of Our Lady of Lourdes (Coffee Hall), Christ the King (Kents Hill) and St Mary's Woburn Sands.

Development Stage

Almost all of Monkston Park is now developed. Work is now focused on completing the landscape areas and highways to ensure they are adopted and properly looked after into the future.

Children’s Play Provision for Monkston Park

Thanks to all residents who participated in the recent consultation on children's play provision in Monkston Park. Proposals will be shared shortly after Easter.

Further progress has been made with the completion works in Monkston Park.

Virtually all of the road surfacing is done and this will be followed by lighting, white lines and street signs.

It will be early summer before the detailed works will be complete, but once done, the infrastructure in Monkston Park will be ready for adoption.

We are also progressing the transfer of the allotments to the Parish Council to enable gardeners to get in time for this growing season. The sludge from the pond has been removed and taken to the site opposite the allotments to dry out prior to composting.

Work remains to be done to complete the drains and improve the verges around the green which can move ahead as the land continues to dry out; the earth mounding improvements are also waiting on drier weather.

The community centre is making good progress and is due to open in late autumn.

Start Date
Development of the first site commenced in 2003.
