Milton Keynes West

Tattenhoe Park grid square

Location
Between Snelshall Street (V1) and Chaffron Way (H7).
Description

A 56 hectare greenfield site for approximately 1,300 homes (30% will be affordable), new primary school, community facilities, open space, allotment gardens, small hotel, shops and business space.

The site has been proposed as a national exemplar for the provision of “super-flexible homes”, and the masterplan recommends that this be pioneered at this site.

The objective is to ensure that Tattenhoe Park is developed in a sustainable way, reducing its impact upon the environment.  A number of initiatives to achieve this are currently underway.

All HCA projects adopt level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes as a minimum.  The required level of the Code will be increased to Code Level 4 from April 2010 and Code Level 6 from April 2013.

Development Stage
Resolution to grant outline planning application consent was determined in September 2006 (reference 06/00856/MKPCO). Detailed planning consent was granted in December 2006 for the first-phase infrastructure and the primary school was approved on the 17 May 2007.
Start Date

Main local infrastructure is complete and the primary school opened in September 2008.  Work on the first residential development is expected to start on site in late 2010.

Completion Date
Completion of the grid square is anticipated by 2020.
Developer
The site will be divided into six phases, and each will be subject to competitive tender, so the developers are not known at this stage.
When Can I Have My Say?
Extensive consultation took place in January / February 2006 on the Development Framework. The various Reserved Matters planning applications will be subject to consultation via Milton Keynes Partnership as each development phase comes forward.
