Western Expansion Area

The Western Expansion Area lies to the south of Stony Stratford, south-west of Two Mile Ash and north-west of Crownhill and Grange Farm.

The site comprises a total of 360 hectares and is predominantly in agricultural use. The Western Expansion Area is split into two: Area 11 which lies immediately to the south of Stony Stratford, and Area 10.1-10.3 which lies between Calverton Lane and Crownhill.

The development will comprise approximately 6,000 houses, 17 hectares of employment land, primary school and secondary school sites, community facilities and public open space. The main traffic route through the development will be in the form of a “city street”, which will serve small-scale commercial development. The city street will be a public transport route within which there will be bus prioritisation measures to ensure an effective bus service.

Outline planning permission was issued in autumn 2007; start on site is due in summer 2010.

Kingsmead South and Tattenhoe Park

Kingsmead South and Tattenhoe Park are sites within English Partnerships’ ownership. They sit outside the Western Expansion Area but are covered by Milton Keynes Partnership Development Control function. Development proposals are for the completion of the grid squares with predominantly residential development with local facilities. Work is due to start at Kingsmead South in spring 2008 with a start at Tattenhoe in the autumn.

Oxley Park

Oxley Park is split into Oxley Park West and East. Oxley Park West is developer-owned whilst Oxley Park East is within English Partnerships’ ownership. Both sites are being developed for residential purposes and fall under the development control function of Milton Keynes Partnership.
