E-commerce Regulations
The Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002 (the “Regulations”), implement the EU's E-commerce Directive into UK law.
The Regulations harmonise an "information society service" throughout Europe, which is "any service normally provided for remuneration at a distance, by means of electronic equipment for the processing (including digital compression) and storage of data, at the individual request of a recipient of the service."
Guidance from the UK's Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) explains that the Regulations are subject to a wider interpretation than merely on-line commercial transactions. The Regulations also apply to organisations providing online information.
Milton Keynes Partnership provides information and guidance publications available for download on-line. Where a charge is made for supplying information please note that it will be administered by English Partnerships.
